Following the introduction of new mandatory guidelines for the Public sector on Diversity Recruitment, there is a need for employers to access qualified candidates who are representative of the diversity of the UK workforce.
The guidelines require the 45,000 Public Sector employers in the UK to demonstrate that they have followed best diversity practice in their recruitment procedures; candidates considered must reflect the full diversity of the UK workforce. Diversity Jobsite has been created to address these requirements for both the public and private sector for employers and candidates alike.
By 2010, only 20% of the UK workforce will be male, under 45 years and Caucasian, and yet the current regional distribution of employment shows that Ethnic Minorities (a major part of the UK potential workforce) are still under employed relative to the overall employment rates.
RES employment legislation and Diversity policies have been developed to tackle this ‘employment gap’ and encourage employers to fully develop the skills and potential of minority group employees.
