Design for Impact Intern
UnltdEmployer of the Week
UnLtd is the leading provider of support to social entrepreneurs in the UK and offers the largest such network in the world. Our mission is to find social entrepreneurs with bold solutions to today’s challenges. Through funding and support, we help them to realise their potential and creating lasting change.
UnLtd values diversity and is committed to inclusion and understanding intersectionality. These are more than just buzz words for us; they are principles guiding how we build our teams, support leaders and empower social entrepreneurs. We want to create an organisation that’s the right fit for everyone we work with.
To support an inclusive environment where employees feel empowered to share their lived experiences and ideas, we have embedded an equity and inclusion group within UnLtd, giving us a wide range of different perspectives in our work to help us see what is most needed in society. We are particularly keen to hear from those who identify as Black, Asian or minority ethnic, LGBTQIA, people who are disabled, those with learning differences, those with caring responsibilities, from a less advantaged socioeconomic background as well as any other under-represented group in our workforce.

About the role
This is an opportunity to join UnLtd as we design a new support package for social entrepreneurs using physical activity to create social impact.
The role is part of the Design and Innovation team at UnLtd. We are responsible for making sure our support to social entrepreneurs is aligned with their needs in a changing and complex world. We believe that with the right people, ideas, and tools we can create a future where enterprising people are transforming the world for good.
To do this, we use a range of facilitation tools and approaches from the fields of design and innovation to:
• put the social entrepreneur at the heart of everything that we do,
• work with others to think boldly and creatively to develop ambitious ideas,
• start small and test what works before growing.
We’ve noticed that the there are few opportunities in the fields of design and innovation for those starting their career in the social impact sector. This means that powerful tools for social transformation aren’t available to those who are best placed to drive change.
We’ve created this internship opportunity to address this gap. Rather than looking for a qualification or specific experience, we are looking for someone who can show they have the skills, personal qualities, and passion for the role.
We are looking for a curious, thoughtful, and dedicated candidate who is comfortable seeing the big picture in small details. You might not have a degree or experience of a design process before, but you’ll be interested in how to tackle society’s biggest challenges and learning to use tools and approaches to unlock effective solutions. You’ll enjoy working with others and be comfortable leading people through a process.
