Keep our offices and bookshops running like clockwork. And make sure our 200 staff and 80 volunteers have all the resources they need to work effectively. As well as enjoying a role that’s unusually varied, you’ll be playing a big part in our fight for human rights.
About the role
You’ll be responsible for the day to day running of the Amnesty International UK office, managing contractors, dealing with staff enquiries, keeping abreast of our cleaning services, waste removal, utilities and our security team.
If the work needs doing you do it or oversee it. You will also act quickly if there’s a problem with any aspect of our facilities, anywhere. But there’s much more to your role than that.
Running health and safety training for staff & volunteers, as well as training and supervising volunteers in our post room.
You’ll take responsibility for our office services and equipment – everything from postal services and reception to stationery. Which will also mean you will mean helping to develop specifications for a wide range of contracts, get involved in procurement and ongoing contract monitoring, whilst also keeping a close eye on budgets.
You’ll help to motivate and develop our facilities team, you’ll make sure our Reception team delivers a great service. And at every stage, you’ll see to it that every one of our people complies with health, safety and environmental regulations.
You will get to meet and work with all of Amnesty’s teams and help them plan logistics for their work needs, be it events or administration.
We are looking for an experienced Facilities Coordinator. You will have a good technical building services qualification (IOSH) plus a background that shows you understand maintenance regimes, experience of working with and understanding RAMS and work permits. know how to develop specifications, experience of negotiating and running contracts, and can maintain a budgets spreadsheet.
You’ll need a demonstrable ability to work and communicate professionally, verbally and in written form with internal and external customers. You’ll also be able to run training as well as deliver focused and informative presentations.
Above all, you’ll have delivered services that really meet users’ needs and fulfill the demands of health, safety and fire risk assessments. It’s not just about technical expertise though. We’ll also look for plenty of initiative, the ability to plan and solve problems and, most importantly, proven people skills. You’ll need to be flexible, responsive and a great communicator too. Experience in running training is desirable too.
