Premium Employer of the WeekThe Secretary of State for Health and Social Care is looking to appoint up to 3 Non-Executive Board Members to the Department of Health and Social Care.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is at the heart of delivering the Government’s priorities and supporting Ministers to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. The Department is committed to shortening the amount of time people spend in poor health, reducing health inequalities, driving economic growth, and ultimately improving the financial sustainability of the health and care system. We work closely with our partners in the health and care system, our ALBs, agencies, local authorities, across government, and with both patients and the public, ensuring that we are all working with one focus – the people who use our services.
Non-Executive Board Members provide independent advice and expertise to inform the Department's strategy, performance, and governance. They attend the Departmental Board which meets quarterly and is chaired by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and attended by the Department’s most senior officials.
As a Non-Executive Board Member, you will be expected to demonstrate an extensive senior experience and a track record of achievement in a relevant field, with an ability to operate effectively on the board of a significant national organisation and will have strong strategic skills, with a bias towards effective delivery and implementation.
You will also be expected to show sound judgement, with the ability to consider and provide challenge on complex issues from an impartial and balanced viewpoint. Additionally, as a Non-Executive Board Member you will also have exceptional communication skills, be able to work as part of a team, and collaborate effectively with others to drive change in a large, complex system.
Remuneration will be £15,000 per annum for a time commitment of two to three days per month. The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care determines the length of these appointments, which will be for up to a maximum of three years.
