Role Summary
- You will be a lay member of the Committee on Standards.
- This Committee helps keep members of Parliament honest.
- Lay members are people from the public, not MPs.
- You will help check if MPs have broken rules.
- You will help decide actions if MPs did wrong.
- You have the same voting rights as MPs on the Committee.
Key Tasks
- Take part in meetings and look at evidence.
- Ask questions to witnesses.
- Help write reports about findings.
- Work with other Committee members to reach decisions.
Skills And Experience
- Be able to make fair decisions on tricky issues.
- Be good at looking through lots of information carefully.
- Have experience working with or improving rules or policies.
- Care about democracy and understand the work of MPs.
- Have strong honesty, character, and communication skills.
Pay And Hours
- You will work 3 to 4 days a month.
- This is a fixed term for six years.
Location And Workplace
- You will work with the UK House of Commons team.
- Meetings may be held in Parliament or online.
