Role summaryRole Summary
  • You will work as an Inspector for Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
  • CIW checks that childcare and social care services in Wales are safe and good quality.
  • Your job is to make sure these services follow rules and help them improve.
  • You will protect the wellbeing of children and others who use these services.
  • You will work under a Team Manager and help CIW do its important work.
Key tasksKey Tasks
  • Look after a group of services, checking they follow the rules.
  • Carry out inspections and watch how services take care of people.
  • Report when services are not meeting standards or when there are safety worries.
  • Work with other groups like councils and safeguarding teams.
  • Prepare and take part in enforcement actions, like writing legal notices.
  • Share good practices with your team and help improve CIW’s work.
  • Keep clear records and stay up to date with laws and best ways of working.
Skills and experienceSkills And Experience
  • Knowledge of childcare or social care services.
  • Ability to spot risks and protect people.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to write clear reports and keep accurate records.
  • Willing to learn and improve your skills.
  • Able to manage your own work well.
Pay and hoursPay And Hours
  • Salary between £37,111 and £45,378 per year.
  • Additional allowance of £4,535.
  • Full-time work, but part-time or job share applications are welcome.

  • Work includes visiting childcare and play services across the area.
