Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is seeking a Senior Specialist Lawyer to provide high-quality, timely legal advice and guidance to a wide range of internal clients. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in protecting and enhancing Wales's natural environment through impactful legal work.

As part of our Legal Services team, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation on matters primarily relating to NRW's enforcement activity, including prosecution work. The role offers a varied and intellectually stimulating workload, with the opportunity to influence real-world environmental outcomes.

NRW engages with a broad range of stakeholders, including Welsh Government, third sector organisations and commercial entities. Your legal expertise will help shape our regulatory approach, influence decision-making and ensure our actions are legally robust and aligned with our purpose.

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister with experience of delivering effective legal services in either the public or private sector. Knowledge of criminal law and the Code for Crown Prosecutors is highly desirable, given the enforcement focus of the role. Previous experience of environmental law is not essential, as training and support will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise to work that makes a tangible difference to Wales's environment, communities and future generations. Join us and help shape the future of Wales's natural environment through expert legal guidance and meaningful collaboration.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to an NRW office within the place base / location above and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

To make an informal enquiry about this role, please contact Sarah Asbrey at  Sarah.Asbrey@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk

Interviews will be face to face on 12/08/2026 (details of location will be shared in advance)
